Points to Consider in Planting and Cultivation Stages
During the planting and subsequent growing stages of grafted watermelon seedlings, contact of the graft point with the soil should be avoided.
Grafted watermelon plants show strong plant growth. 250-300 grafted watermelon seedlings are sufficient for one decare area. When determining the number of seedlings, the characteristics of the variety and soil should also be taken into account.
Protective spraying should be done as in normal seedlings against wireworms that may be in the soil, diseases called melting (Phytium…etc.), powdery mildew and false downy mildew (yellow spot).
Care should be taken for aphids and thrips that can cause virus diseases, and spraying should be done as soon as it is observed.
In the production made with grafted watermelon seedlings, the growing period is extended by approximately 10-15 days.
