Belgian strategic research center Flanders Make; The artificial intelligence drone he developed helps growers to accurately predict their harvest by counting the number of strawberries being grown.

Rob Heylen, a researcher at the Flander Make research center; He said that the drone they developed can predict the harvest by counting the number of flowers and fruits of the products produced in the field or greenhouse with the existing camera and sensors, with the existing algorithm.

Rob Heylen says that during their research, they were able to determine a margin of error between the number of digitally recognized flowers and the actual number of flowers in manual counts. With this known margin of error, Heylen says, they were able to very accurately determine the actual number of flowers based on quickly collected drone images.

To estimate the harvest efficiency of strawberries under normal conditions, strawberry blossoms were counted manually over a 3-week period. With the drones developed as a result of this research developed in cooperation with the Belgian Experimental Fruit Growing Center, this counting can now be done much faster.

According to Flanders Make, the main reason for this innovation to be accepted in the business world is; artificial intelligence used in new drone applications.

This technology allows drones to perform tasks completely independently or analyze the collected images at lightning speed.
