Alime Çekirdek, living in Mertoğlu village, decided to produce strawberries with his wife Ümit Çekirdek in 2016.
As a woman entrepreneur, Çekirdek, which created a small strawberry greenhouse with the microcredit provided by the Turkish Waste Prevention Foundation (TİSVA) Sinop Branch, increased its production volume with the soilless agriculture application with the support of her husband.
Having increased the size of its greenhouses to 3 thousand square meters in the intervening period and started to produce 70 tons of strawberries annually, Alime Çekirdek was also awarded the female micro entrepreneur of the year award for its success.
He explained that they used to grow vegetables for a while, but because their income was low, they turned to strawberry production, "We started to produce strawberries with soilless agriculture in our greenhouse. We decided to grow our greenhouses because the yield was good and the demand was high." said.
